Systems of Care and the Needs of Migrant Youth: Global and Local ResponsesExperts from the United States and Canada present the most recent information on policy, practices, and systems of care approaches related to serving the mental health and well-being needs of immigrant and refugee children and youth: including the relevance of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child; protecting migrant children; caring for unaccompanied and trafficked minors; culturally informed practice with refugee children; resilience and engaging community in mental health services; cultural considerations and response to trauma exposure for Latina and Latino children at the southern border of the United States; and schools as an important system of care for immigrant and refugee youth. A two-hour interactive session includes family and youth speakers sharing their lived experiences and a facilitated question and answer discussion of policy, advocacy, and systems of care approaches.
