AACAP's Telepsychiatry Toolkit

The Child and Adolescent Telepsychiatry Toolkit provides members a resource for developing and expanding a telepsychiatry practice with children and adolescents. Its video format allows easy appreciation of core issues in telepsychiatry.

Each video presentation is complemented by timely references to comprise a comprehensive resource for child and adolescent telepsychiatrists. The toolkit is an evolving resource. As new topics emerge, more resources and information will be added.

The toolkit is the result of a unique collaboration between the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) and the American Psychiatric Association (APA). This collaboration optimizes efficiency, shares resources, and increases visibility in developing and disseminating a toolkit to support telepsychiatry practice. This web page provides 18 succinct video presentations on issues specific to child and adolescent telepsychiatry. Then, members link to the APA’s telepsychiatry toolkit to view brief videos regarding the general practice of telepsychiatry. The APA webpage, in turn, includes the AACAP Telepsychiatry Toolkit.

The Child and Adolescent Telepsychiatry Toolkit was funded by the AACAP’s Abramson Fund which actively supports the development and implementation of mental health services for children and adolescents. Andre Jackson at the University of Maryland School of Medicine provided major consultation in video development.
